Alberta Recycling has posted a Request for Information on the Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) website.
 
The objective of the Request for Information is to identify organizations interested in and capable of providing pick-up, handling, transportation and processing services for eligible waste paint materials that are accepted into the Paint Recycling Alberta Program.  The deadline to submit responses is by 4:30 p.m. on September 10, 2010.

The Recycling Council of Alberta has developed a summary fact sheet on Alberta’s proposed Construction and Demolition waste reduction program. The RCA has identified this program as an important priority to help the province achieve its waste reduction goal of 500 kg/capita disposal.

The fact sheet is going to be sent to all Alberta MLAs and municipalities, as well as the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, urging them to discuss this program with their colleagues and support its implementation at the earliest possible date. We also encourage all RCA members to talk to their MLA and municipal officals about this issue.

Are you interested in influencing the direction and future of the Recycling Council of Alberta? Then we urge you to join one of the RCA's committees. The four committees are: Leadership & Advocacy; Communications; Industrial, Commercial & Institutional (ICI); and Small & Rural Communities.

The RCA's working committees normally meet on the third Tuesday of every other month in Red Deer (June and December meetings may vary from the regular schedule and location). Lunch is always provided. All RCA members are welcome to participate in the committees, thereby help shape the organization and also network with other members. Details on agendas, start times and location information are emailed to participants about a week prior to each meeting day.

The next committee meetings are scheduled for February 16^th, at the Red Deer Lodge. Any RCA member interested in finding out more about committees is welcome to attend. Please let us know which committee(s) you think about joining so we can add you to the agenda distribution list. The Recycling Council of Alberta is pleased to announce its 2010 Waste Reduction Conference “Building Tomorrow”, to be held October 13-15, 2010, at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Lake Louise, Alberta.

The conference will feature a wide variety of topics and sessions, and potential speakers are welcome to submit ideas for presentations on waste reduction topics, including progressive ICI and C&D initiatives, zero waste, and other innovative programs and technologies.
