Host a Presentation about Recycling and Waste Reduction

The Recycling Council of Alberta is maintaining a list of volunteer speakers across the province. School classes or other groups that want to learn about waste reduction and recycling can contact us and we will get them in touch with a local speaker to give a presentation on these topics.

Our presentation provides a lot of generic environmental, waste reduction and recycling information. If there is a specific focus you would like to have addressed at your session, please let us know. The presentation normally takes about 1 hour (plus Q&A), but can be tailored to your needs if you have a different duration in mind. The presenter will require the room to be set up with a computer running Microsoft PowerPoint, a digital projector and a screen. In some cases, the presenter can bring this equipment along if the group host can't provide it.

Invite one of our local industry speakers out to your community for a FREE informative 20-minute presentation.

Discuss successes and challenges in setting up a community recycling facility and where to go for answers. Using case studies from three Alberta communities you will learn:

• what materials make up the waste stream and what can be recycled
• community recycling program partnerships
• examples of various types of infrastructure

Become a Volunteer Speaker

Are you involved in recycling in your community? Do you enjoy interacting with children or adults, and spreading the waste reduction message? Then, the RCA Speakers Bureau needs you.

In efforts to spread the 3Rs message, the RCA has launched a waste reduction speakers bureau project, in partnership with Alberta Environment. Requests for speakers on recycling-related topics far exceed Alberta Environment’s speaking resources each year. At the same time, speaking to schools and community organizations is an important element of public education. To bridge this gap, the RCA is asking you to sign on as a speaking resource person for your local area.

Presentations and background materials will be provided to minimize the preparation time required of speakers. As speaking requests are received, they will be matched to the closest available registered speaker. This approach not only minimizes travel time, but also makes use of local expertise with the most knowledge of programs and opportunities in each community.
